The option of converting existing propulsion and combustion equipment to enable the safe firing of LSGO has been adopted by many ship owners since the initial implementation of the ECA regulations in 2010 and in 2015. However, these conversions allowed vessels to comply within the relatively short period when in ECA ports or territory, which may have been limited to a few days on average.
Therefore, the high cost of distillate fuel was limited to a few days per month/year etc., for the majority of fleets. Vessels continuously trading in ECA’s traditionally opted for the installation of Scrubbers as a cost reduction measure.
In cases where owners choose to continue using LSGO as an abatement measure, or in the event that they wish to convert equipment and plant to ensure safe and reliable operation of their vessels, then AMI are extremely experienced and positioned to support.
With over 250 LSGO projects of various scopes satisfactorily executed and currently in safe working operation, AMI’s project teams are extremely well equipped and experienced to execute safe solutions for all types of equipment from Main Engines to Auxiliary Boilers and to address each and every different scenario.
